- Is there a high-quality vitamin CE serum under $30?
- Is there a natural or organic vitamin CE serum that works?
- How can I try vitamin CE serum without breaking the bank?
Kleem Organics Intensive Rejuvenating Vitamin C Serum contains a lot of my favorite ingredients, including vitamins C and E, ferulic acid, hyaluronic acid, jojoba oil, and witch hazel. It is perfect for normal to dry and dry skin types for regular use. It is also a 72% organic serum, which is saying a lot, considering that all of the ingredients are quite potent. For more, read on.
Vitamins C and E May Help Fine Lines and Wrinkles and Age Spots, and Suppress UV RadiationKleem Organics Intensive Rejuvenating Vitamin C Serum contains 20% vitamin C?as L-ascorbic acid.
Most studies that demonstrate vitamin C works feature concentrations of 15% or higher for vitamin C (Photochemistry and Photobiology, 2005), so I knew that my readers would appreciate the concentration in Kleem Organics Intensive Rejuvenating Vitamin C Serum.
As for benefits, it has been shown in at least one study that topical application of 10% L-ascorbic acid results in a decrease in wrinkles significantly over the course of three months. Whats more, concentrations this high of vitamin C last: Studies detect the presence of L-ascorbic acid in the skin up to three days after application.
As for vitamin E, it works beautifully together with vitamin C.
By combining vitamins C and E, each of these antioxidants?can essentially borrow an electron from the other antioxidant to renew itself, and vice versa. This allows the antioxidant potency to be higher than if each ingredient were used separately.
Hyaluronic Acid: Short-Term Plumping, Long-Term Moisture RetentionHyaluronic acid is naturally found within the skin, but its levels will deplete with age. And its a shame: As a prominent natural moisturizing factor (NMF), hyaluronic acid can retain up to 1000 times its weight in water (Skin Pharmacology and Physiology, 2004).
However, unlike some other NMFs, hyaluronic acid works at high and low humidity conditions. While all NMFs work at high humidity, in dry conditions, other NMFs can suck moisture up from the skin, drying out your skin in the process! Hyaluronic acid does not do this?(In-Cosmetics).
Hyaluronic acid also helps for the skin to heal after injury (American Journal of Clinical Dermatology, 2005; Biologicals, 2011). That might be, in part, because it?s a free-radical scavenger that could be helpful in preventing free-radical damage to the skin (International Journal of Pharmaceutics,?2003). In a product like Kleem Organics Intensive Rejuvenating Vitamin C Serum, hyaluronic acid gives the product a smooth, gliding texture, and gently plumps up the skin and temporarily (though slightly) fills in fine lines and wrinkles.
Jojoba Oil: A Natural Hydrator that Mimics Skin Sebum
Because jojoba is?so similar to our skin?s natural oil, it is thought that jojoba oil can ?trick? the skin into thinking it?s producing enough oil, which helps balance oil production [Source: Acne.org].
Jojoba oils mimicry of natural skin oils has other benefits as well. Jojoba oil is rich in natural fats that mimic those in the outer layer of the skin, explains Joshua Zeichner, M.D., director of cosmetic and clinical research at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. ?This means it can help the skin retain moisture and heal itself. (source)
Study after study confirms that jojoba oil makes your skin look better. One study shows that use of jojoba oil shows modest swelling, indicative of moisture retention, in the stratum corneum (uppermost layer of skin) after use (Journal of Dermatological Science, 2008). Jojoba oil can also help to increase the penetration of other ingredients into the skin, something that may be useful for anti-acne treatments, such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, or retinoids (Journal of the American Oil Chemists Society, 1984).
In a product like Kleem Organics Intensive Rejuvenating Vitamin C Serum, jojoba oil helps to balance out some of the other oils, and helps to increase the penetration of vitamin C and E into the skin.
Personal Use and Opinions
Kleem Organics Intensive Rejuvenating Vitamin C Serum is a very lightweight, clear serum. It glides across the skin very easily, and a two to three pumps is enough for the face, neck, and decolletage. It has a very faint smell that I can only describe as reminiscent of orange peel. It drinks into the skin within thirty seconds and has a slight tackiness to it, but not so much so that you cannot apply primer or makeup over it with any issue.
Due to the 20% L-ascorbic acid, you may notice a slight tingling or burning. That is normal.
I used Kleem Organics Intensive Rejuvenating Vitamin C Serum for a week under my favorite sunscreen, and I thought that it made my face smoother. I obviously use vitamin CE serum all of the time, so I wasn?t expecting miracles, but I definitely noticed the acidity of the product helped cell turnover.
Bottom LineIf youre looking for a high-quality, low-cost vitamin CE serum, I highly recommend Kleem Organics Intensive Rejuvenating Vitamin C Serum. Bonus points if you store it wrapped in a napkin in the back of your refrigerator it is cooling and prevents any oxidation! Product Rating: 9/10 (High concentration of proven ingredients: 3/3. Unique formulation or new technology: 3/3. Value: 3/3. Sunscreen: 0/1).
